HQS Inspection Checklist

Ceiling and walls in good condition

No large cracks, holes, loose plaster, or severe bulging. No peeling or chipping lead-based paint if built before 1978.

Floor in good condition

No tripping hazards, large holes, or missing flooring. Carpet must be secured. No severe buckling or warping.

Window condition and locks

At least one window must open. All windows must lock securely. No broken glass or missing panes.

Electrical outlets functional

At least two working outlets or one outlet and one permanent light fixture. No exposed wiring.

Smoke detector present and working

Working smoke detector required. Battery must be functional. Detector must not be expired.
